Loving Entrepreneurship

by Michael Cage on June 11, 2004

Do you want to know what entrepreneurs really do? They cold call. They clean bathrooms and mop floors. They make copies and fix computer problems. They answer phones. They fill out paperwork. They work weekends, and holidays. They have to, because their employees just want to work 40 hours and leave, and they can’t afford to hire any more help.

That quote is from Rob at BusinessPundit in his post about the entrepreneurs life not being glamourous, but hard work. Personally, I don’t agree with either perspective. It’s a personal judgment, and to each his/her own. What is relevant?

The mark of the true entrepreneur is this:

If cleaning bathrooms and mopping floors is the best thing for the business, there is nothing in the world they’d rather be doing.

An entrepreneur sees something (often that others can’t), goes after it, and makes it happen.  Actions, not words are the key. Right idea - hard work - smart work - passion - success.

    Geoff,

I disagree. What you describe is a dreamer. There are no shortage of people who dream of better futures, unique or otherwise, yet do nothing significant about them. Dreams have to be mixed with action to be an entrepreneur.

    Thanks for visiting.

An entrepreneur is anyone with a clear, concise vision of the

    future, which noone else shares.
