One of the most common refrains I hear from small business owners is:
"But you don't understand, my business is commoditized because we all offer the same basic thing."
Case in point...
A store in Manhattan has introduced a system where a customer just needs to walk around the store with a scanner to select their items. They just zap the product they want and move on to the next without any need to pick the product up and drag through the store. Customers pay at the counter for the products and a $15 charge which inlcudes home delivery.
