<p>I too am interested in visiting Asheville area and Charlottesville. Hannah seeing that you have lived in Asheville and are going to Charlottesville, how about a recap after you have been there awhile? Hit the major categories like the retirement books do: ambience(atmosphere), climate, housing cost, cost of living, colleges, crime, acceptance/friendliness,city planning for growth? economy and the job competition. Just your opinion after getting a feel for the place! My major concern over the Asheville area is crime and the availability of top notch health care. I dont see the hospital there listed as a Level One Trauma Center but this could be old info I read. Both cities have many positives going for them aside from the scenery and weather. I have read how people love the city of Asheville, and often comment on the friendliness of its people. My major concern in Charlottesville is cost of living. Most list it as a high cost of living but one listed it as lower than the area in which I live(Cleve. Ohio suburbs) The other issue is acceptance of a Northerner. My father was from W.VA. grew up poor but worked his way to a better life. So I honor mountain people for their work ethic, hospitality and not taking on airs. From my only experience in Virginia(Williamsburg) The people were friendly and gracious. As I do not like the “in your face” culture that much of the United States is falling victim to, I appreciate manners and self restraint. I hope Virginians would accept me for being hard working and honest and minding my manners. I dont have hundreds of years to gain acceptance/respect. But be clear I honor the generations of your family that earned theirs. So the main areas to examine are acceptance, top notch health and crime levels. Also I have two young adults in the family who may pursue History, Theatre and a Medical Major. My self, I need a great library system, nature trails, music, part time work and access to classes. So thats a tall order but any info/opinions provided would be appreciated. Congratulations to both the people of Asheville and Charlottesville. I hope you continued happiness!
