Cool Idea for Retail Shops

"But you don't understand, my business is commoditized because we all offer the same basic thing."
- FACT: There are ALWAYS new ways to serve and amaze your customers.
- FACT: There are ALWAYS ways to differentiate your business from the landscape of options presented to your customers.
- FACT: If you can't tell me in a single sentence how you are different/better/superior than any and every other option ... go to your room and sit in the corner till you can.
Case in point...
A store in Manhattan has introduced a system where a customer just needs to walk around the store with a scanner to select their items. They just zap the product they want and move on to the next without any need to pick the product up and drag through the store. Customers pay at the counter for the products and a $15 charge which inlcudes home delivery.
